At some moment in the future there will be a diary on why same-sex couples are not treated the same when seeking medical care because some providers/care-givers simply cannot give the same familial consideration and confidentiality about diagnosis or other rights (e.g. DNR) they would for a straight couple. Imagine how much worse it would be in a federal medical facility like a VA hospital located in a state that led in the recognition of gay marriages.
