Happy New Year!

Last night, this story in Huffington Post made me nervous over the 2020 census. The article says the DOJ wants to include a question about citizenship on the next census, worrying minority groups who feel this will impede some from answering and deprive their communities of much needed funds and representation in DC. The article also states no questions about citizenship were asked in the 2010 census, but the census website claims they’ve been asking the question since 1820. census.gov
I was a census enumerator in the 2000 census and in the bay area (Oakland, Ca) I found some people who had come from police states or other threatening environments didn’t want to participate.
This also indicates this administration is not above using a formerly non-political government entity to do its dirty work.
