WYFP - Lorraine Bowen - Quirky and Fun!

So you may be asking yourself — who the heck is Lorraine Bowen?  She is one of my all time favorite entertainers on the internet.  My first run in with her was in a little scene in a historical piece for the BBC featuring my favorite British historian Ruth Goodman, where Lorraine showed off her extensive polyester clothing collection and was quite fun.  And I believe she has one of if not THE largest collection of polyester clothing in the UK.  Maybe some costume company comes a close second, she’s REALLY into polyester.

But that’s not all!  She’s also a singer/songwriter and was a “golden buzzer” winner and semifinalist on Britain’s Got Talent back years ago, which is where I fell in love with her.

The Crumble Song has dozens of variations now, for many different languages and even dessert variations.  But she does so much more than make a nice crumble.

She used to live in Brighton, which is a  very LGBTQIA+ city on the coast of England, and is very involved with the performing arts there, and has a large gay following.  She also does commissions and did the theme song for the Emunah Endeavor, the failed sailing adventure around the world with my best friend back a decade ago.  I do not have a copy of the audio file, but it was wonderful.

She’s put out several albums of delightfully cheeky and quirky music over the years and even a book (I have an autographed copy) The Crumble Lady.  Below are some of my favorite songs that have videos.

So — yeah!  That’s a little taste of Lorraine Bowen, who is living her best life and doing what she loves with her keyboards and friends.  We should all be so lucky.

What’s your fucking problem this week?  We want to know!  And hopefully a little silliness makes it a  bit better.
