Another week down the drain, but this one has something new in it for me — FISH! I got the volunteer position at the neuroscience lab and I’m pretty psyched. We had our first meeting Friday at noon on Zoom and it was a general meet and greet, and arranging training for those of us that haven’t been trained yet.
We did the little meet and greet, and went over the responsibilities of the Tier 2 and 3 members and talked about the conferences we want to go to this year, there are three possibilities, one in Canada, one in DC and one in Texas.
I’m going to be trained in the data entry portion of the show this semester and then next semester I will go up to level 2 and I can actually take care of the fish and do research.
I’m also thinking about different ideas for research on my own, well with Dr C supervising at any rate. It should be pretty cool if I can find something to do. I can also help the grad students with their projects and be part of the presentation team at the conferences.
I can’t make the first training session, but I will reach out to Dr C and arrange another time for some training and make that happen. Basically what you get from the lab is what you put into it, so I am trying to find ways to volunteer a lot of time as soon as I can.
So that’s been on my agenda — what’s been in your week?
