I had my first math test on Wednesday and the grades came out last night — I got a 76. I am THRILLED with that. After last semester getting farther and farther behind and having no hope of salvaging the class I withdrew to save my GPA. And now I might actually get a B before it’s all over and even go back to being on the Dean’s List this semester. That would make me feel a lot better over all.
My classes are going well for the most part, and I’m not behind on anything so far. It’s much better than last semester where I started behind due to the High Holy Days and just fell farther and farther behind — and my meds needed adjusting as well, so it was over all a bad time to be me. Now the meds are sorted and I feel like myself again.
I’m worried about covid though — they are going to full time on campus this coming week — I have a zoom class on Monday and in persons on Wednesday for all my classes. I’m not thrilled about it. The number of students who wear masks properly is small, and there are plenty who simply dare anyone to say something about them not wearing a mask. (We are required to wear masks in the buildings and on the commuter busses from the parking lot) I got new masks, and they are much more effective, but man they are hard to breathe through when you have asthma and are out of shape hiking across campus. I guess it’s going to be a trade off — cloth mask to walk in between classes, heavy duty mask in class. I am determined not to get sick if I can avoid it, being fat, in my 50s and having asthma.
Mum isn’t being as careful now that she’s had it. Her boyfriend is a sports fanatic and they go to all the university games and don’t wear masks, and it worries me. Mum is not frail or anything, but she is in her 70s now and needs to be a little more aware. She figures she’s had it and it wasn’t bad, so she’s safe now — and she’s not.
So yeah. Not failing math, it’s Shabbat now and I have the weekend to rest, read and relax, with a little bit of homework due Sunday and Monday. I can live with that. How was your week?
