So here we are again, and I am posting tonight's diary.
It's been another expensive week here in our old crumbling bungalow. The kitchen faucet had need of a new washer, letting us know by leaking a small, but steady, stream of hot water. Simple fix, right? Just shut off the valves under the sink, and change it, right?
Except...
Except that the old faucet was so corroded that it could not be disassembled. So we sought professional help. The young man from a local plumbing firm managed to get the water shut off, the old hardware removed with some judicious use of a Sawzall, and a new faucet in, for ~$400. Calamity Jean likes it, so I'm pleased, though I'd have liked the old one to have lasted until we were out.
Oh, well.
